We have our SVDP meetings every Thursday evening at 5pm. We are always keen to welcome new members to our Society. If you wish to find out more about what we do in the Parish please contact 07896 154093.
You can also use this contact number if you have an immediate need for our services.
If you would like to help in any way and can spend even a couple of hours a week, then get in touch with us. You could visit someone who is lonely or ill, donate any pieces of unwanted furniture or help with the pick up or delivery of these items.
Poverty can take the form of loneliness, bereavement, chronic or terminal illness. As Mother Theresa said “The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved”.
The Society of St Vincent de Paul is a worldwide organisation.
It is arranged in local groups called Conferences. It is a lay organisation and the clergy are only involved as spiritual advisers. It is open to men and women, young and old. They only ask that members accept the Christian ethos of the Society and are committed to express their love of God through service to their neighbours. YOU can make a difference. By joining your local Group you can help to support individuals, families and children in need. You can volunteer for a range of activities, depending on your interests. You do not need any experience. It does not matter how much time you can spare. Every little helps.
The Society is named after St Vincent de Paul who lived from 1581 to 1660 and whose life was devoted to helping the underprivileged. He is the patron of Christian charity and, as such, he is a fitting patron for our Society.
